ABOUT SONU
Sonu Herrera is an Antwerp based hairstylist, originally trained with Toni & Guy and spent 10+ years of cutting hair in high-end salons and barbershops.
Growing up immersed in the electrifying Belgian club scene of the early 2010s, dominated by hardcore, trance, and hiphop. Herrera’s aesthetic was shaped by the raw, unapologetic energy of underground subcultures. This backdrop fueled his ‘anti-glamour’ approach to fashion and hair, celebrating imperfection and individuality over traditional ideals of beauty.
During the global lockdown, Herrera took an interest for fashion photography. Training his eyes to look at hair as a crucial element of visual storytelling, which earned him later on the title as ‘Belgium’s Men’s hairdresser of the year’ in 2021.
When not behind the chair, Herrera contributes to Antwerp’s vibrant fashion scene by partnering with fashion students and new designers to bring concepts to life.
As a passionate educator, he also guide other hairstylists, aiming to bridge the gap between salon trends and high-fashion hair. Herrera’s teachings inspire others to think beyond the ordinary, empowering stylists to embrace cultural references and personal taste.
Sonu Herrera’s work is a reflection of their roots: raw, fearless, and deeply authentic. With a unique eye for blending subculture and style, Herrera continues to push the boundaries of hair design, making an indelible mark on both fashion and art.
